Austin Ivansmith's Blog   Expert Blogs

Hello. My name is Austin Ivansmith. I am currently a Director at WayForward with 7+ years of game industry experience under my belt so far. Most of my writing is relegated to docs and charts, and I have come to find I have many bottled up ideas and theories (sometimes crazy and/or stupid) on all things video game and design related, so here I am letting it all spill out of the chaos which is my brain! Good luck!

It 's surprising how hard it can be to make a brawler and keep it fresh throughout, learning the hard way on Thor God of Thunder for DS. In the end the game was way more repetitive than I would have liked, and too found that more moves doesn 't ...

Fun read. Never really dawned on me that we skip story but nothing else. Skip the passive, force feed the interactive. r n r nI have to say my initial knee-jerk reaction didn 't come from the concept as a theory, but from the logistics of development. First I would ...

I 've actually found that when I put on shoes at home while working it puts me in a different mindset. And having a newborn baby at the house has made working from home impossible since we are in a 1 bedroom and I can 't close a door like ...

@Lars this background material is awesome. I 'm surprised I didn 't come across it when I was researching the development of the title. I read about a lot of folklore and legend, of Ymir, Yggdrasil, etc, but never came across this stuff. I will add it to my grab ...

@Jefferson well my original statement ...

@Jefferson well my original statement had more to do with the idea that these male gamers who are speaking up against discussions about sexism feel like they are losing their power and in a way being marginalized, when the whole reason that women may be speaking up in the first ...
