Brian Handy's Blog

My name is Brian Handy, I am a student at Loyola Marymount University, and I am pursuing a career in Game Design with a focus on expanding the definition of games as a communicative, artistic medium. I have been actively pursuing a career in game design since the age of twelve, and have worked with Game Maker since 2001. This experience, alongside countless hours researching Game Design Theory, reading books on the subject, and contacting various individuals throughout the industry has led me ultimately here, to Gamasutra, where I now try to read relevant featured articles daily.

Beautiful article, and a definite reminder of how amazing this website is: both the article as well as the community response. Regardless of if truth deserves as much of a focus as it gets in this article or not, it's good to see this article being written, because truth certainly ...

I thought that looked funny, I remember when I applied a few years ago that they said they had no more than 200 to a class. Thanks for confirming that Joseph.

Personally as a sophomore pursuing a career in Art Games I've actually found that the path less traveled is far more rewarding. I'm down in Southern California at Loyola Marymount, a liberal arts school with no Game Design major. Nada. My major is in Multimedia Arts, with a minor in ...

Comment In: Revamped 2009 E3 Debuts Exhibitor List, Wider Eligibility [News - 02/02/2009 - 07:37]

I do wonder about the ...

I do wonder about the future of E3. They seem to have decided they don't want to play the fanboy party role of yesteryear anymore, but they cannot seem to take on the formal role of GDC either. Right now, it looks like they're resorting back to the hype... but ...

Those hologram-style 3d TVs are making their way around too. Soon enough the glasses will be a non-issue, and having just finished switching to HD, we'll be switching to 3d next.
