I've been a lead programmer at Irrational Games, Iron Lore Entertainment, and Harmonix. I've recently started a new indie game company called Eerie Canal in Boston, MA. I'm really bad at Starcraft.
Some positive points I've found since writing a game engine for our current project.
Actually getting face time can help improve creativity/production dramatically.
