I am a writer and artist currently living in Minneapolis, MN. I've been writing about video games for fanzines, blogs, and professional magazines for almost 20 years. Feel free to visit my sites and share your opinions. You're always welcome!
Daniel Thomas Vol 4 is my current video games blog. I write essays on various topics, from modern to classic games, from the point-of-view of an aging "classic gamer." And, yes, video games were better 20 years ago, but I'm hopeful for the future.
The Ghibli Blog is my blog devoted to Japan's Studio Ghibli, animation, and the movies. It was launched in 2006. It's my goal to catalog the long careers of directors Hayao Miyazaki and Isao Takahata, as well as their peers.
Daniel Thomas.org is my original arts website, launched in January, 2003. It is the home of my art galleries and essays on video games, movies, and politics.

So E3 is a carnival. ... So E3 is a carnival. What 's wrong with that Sometimes, the spectacle of the show is more entertaining than the actual video games. Exhibit A: Konami 2010. So Capcom released a mediocre, ... So Capcom released a mediocre, buggy fighting game, into a market they themselves over-saturated, then attempted to nickel-and-dime the fans to death by locking away content behind a paid firewall. Game fails to reach sales goals. Company bosses are baffled and confused. r n r nNo thanks, count me out. ... |

That 's an excellent point, ... That 's an excellent point, and I think that would be a key to its success. I want EA Sports on board. I want Konami on board. I want Namco on board. It 's one thing to offer Revenge of Shinobi and Streets of Rage 2 for the umpteenth time. ... |

Comment In: Gen4: The Hard Sell All Around [Blog - 05/17/2012 - 09:42]
|
This is the best comment ... This is the best comment on the thread, and I agree completely. There 's little incentive to be excited about video games when everything is narrowed down to a handful of franchise titles that, frankly, haven 't changed at all over 10, 15, or 20 years. What 's strange is ... |

No doubt, the 64,000 Question ... No doubt, the 64,000 Question for Gamestop is whether Sony or Microsoft will ban used games on their upcoming machines. I 'm very interested to see what they ultimately decide, and the resulting fallout. |
