David Rico's Blog

Indie Game Developer. Working 9 to 5 so I can keep my 8 to Midnight job as an indie game developer.

As a software developer by trade, I deeply enjoy the myriad of problems we need to tackle to create a polished game. I also am extremely interested in the field of AI and believe that games these days don't spend enough time or effort on AI. I also enjoy procedural generation far too much for my own good.

I am the creator and Programmer/Wearer of many hats of Rebirth, a procedural sandbox survival horror inspired by the likes of H.P Lovecraft, Silent Hill and STALKER.

Rebirth has been officially Greenlit by Valve on Steam, and will be widely available across most digital distributors once it releases.

You may find out more about Rebirth on the Steam Greenlight page:

I find myself in pretty ...

I find myself in pretty much the same situation, but with my game Rebirth already green lit on steam since last August. I doubt Valve will be switching gears. It looks like they 're ramping up, much to my disappointment. r n r nSteam will soon or is already slowly ...

I 'm very interested to ...

I 'm very interested to see where Valve goes as far as making Steam machines part of the living room . I think one of the biggest threats to Steam Machine adoption is lack of support/awareness from the mainstream market who buys MS and Sony consoles. r n r nI ...

As someone doing a very ...

As someone doing a very large game with lots of procedural generation in Unity, I don 't really see how another engine could help you much more than Unity. r n r nUnity is a general purpose engine. It has pieces and full systems you can tap into to do ...

I agree. Honestly I get ...

I agree. Honestly I get pretty sick of articles who go on and on about the dev 's personal life and only briefly mention the game in question. Perhaps I 'm wrong, but unless the game is an autobiography, most people don 't really care about your origin story . ...
