He left Totally Games in 2000 having worked on the entire Star Wars space combat simulator series. The next eight years saw him working as a lead or senior designer on Blood Wake (Stormfront Studios), Army Men: Air Commandos (Check Six Studios), The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay (Starbreeze Studios), Saints Row (Volition), Death Jr. 2: Root of Evil (Backbone Entertainment), and Judgmental Shooting Simulator - a training simulator for the Intelligence Community (Destineer). In his last two dev positions he also acted as the audio lead.

David was a founding member of the San Francisco chapter of the IGDA, and has been a frequent speaker at game industry conferences, as well as a guest lecturer at many schools.
