Thanks for the writeup. I managed to find a weighted 88 key keyboard at a pawn shop for sub 500. It is a bit old, but it has MIDI out. A sustain pedal and a cheap stand was all I really needed, and I got them off ebay / amazon ...

I 'll agree with most ...

I 'll agree with most of this, but I will have to disagree on the art side of things. As others have mentioned, building your game around generic assets is a good way to have a generic looking game.

Awesome writeup. Thanks for sharing. I 'm one of the folks who left another profession to come to game development. I learned a very valuable lesson from my previous profession. Happiness and quality of life far outweigh monetary gain and compromising your integrity.
