Why fanboys are fanboys
In the last few days I have been reading different forums
and it doesn’t matter what topic you are reading there must be a few fanboys
that don’t understand the concept of different opinions on a topic. I have
never understood the idea of the fanboy and I think I will never do.
Let’s make it perfectly clear there is a huge difference
between a fan and a fanboy. Everyone is a fan of something be it Lord of The
Rings, The Rolling Stones or Sims, and everyone
is entitled to like what they want. The problem begins when a fan of a band or
a game for example, thinks that all other bands or games except the ones he/she
likes suck, and begins to offend all the people who try to show him/her that
people have different tastes in music and games.
The funniest form of fanboy is the Xbox or Playstation one.
Microsoft and Sony are big boys they don't need protecting, so why do these people defend their consoles so much? Do they think their almost
crusader like behavior will change anything. You bought a console and you won’t
buy another one for some time so stop complaining! Just go to any video of a
Xbox or Playstation exclusive game on youtube or any website and more then half
of the comments there aren’t about the game, they are about how much one
console sucks and the other one doesn’t. The strange thing is that the Wii
doesn’t have so many fanboys maybe because it targets more of a casual market I
don’t know (the Conduit is not a good game by the way, bring on the hate
comments). Soon the Xbox and the
Playstation will have motion controllers too, and then we will see all the Wii
fanboys coming out from under their rocks, saying that the Wii has the “best
motion controller” nooo….
As news, not so long ago a game called Heavy Rain was shown
at E3 and now the producers Quantic Dream offer a small demo presentation. From a
story point of view the game looks really interesting and innovative but will
it be fun? Maybe for the people who like these types of games it will be amazing
but for the general public will it be more then press X to ask about
homework?(we can do that in real life, that’s not fun).We shall see.
