Jacek Wesolowski's Blog   Expert Blogs

Hi! This spot is supposed to hold some basic info on, well, me, so forgive me telling you that:

I studied IT at the Warsaw Univerity of Technology. I learned about things like optimisation, decision support, pattern recognition, machine learning, and even some fairly hardcore control theory. I'm pretty much an Artificial Intelligence programmer by education.

I've been playing computer games for fun since 1985. I wrote my first own game in Atari BASIC. It was a very simple piece of interactive fiction based on the theme of being a well behaved person (I was eight).

I've been playing computer games for profit since 2000. I used to be a games journalist, translator, and tester. These days, I'm mostly a designer. My last job involved a lot of work on game dynamics in general, and pacing in particular.

The rabbit's name is Kubu[ and he's kind of shy.

ACTA is unlike SOPA in ...

ACTA is unlike SOPA in that it doesn't introduce specific legislation on the national level. For instance, there seems to be a consensus that any kind of private IP police would be against Polish law. However, there is also concern that an agreement like this may be used by countries ...

Since this is an online equivalent of going on a demonstration, let me just say I'm with you. I don't even live anywhere near the U.S., and I still feel this legislation could affect me. It's not only harmful to the Internet and free speech in general, but also a ...

In Prince of Persia, the enemy would regain health when they hit you. Getting hit several times in short succession boiled down to having to start over. I wouldn't say it was particularly well communicated, though. I only noticed it half way through the game.

The make something advice is a bit of a myth, in my opinion. Amateur portfolios do a good job of proving the candidate has a skill or two, but the range of skills that can be proven this way is very limited. Most amateur portfolios prove simple execution skills only, ...
