Jeff Murray's Blog

Jeff Murray has coded, designed and directed downloadable casual games to retail titles to browser-based games. He has worked with some of the world's largest brands, working as a Programmer, Game Designer, Director and Project Manager on games RealArcade/GameHouse, Microsoft, Hasbro, Mike Vallely, Jim Beam and SpinMaster.

Through his games, Jeff makes fun experiences by concentrating on mechanics that provide the most entertainment possible and give audiences the subtle nuances that they enjoy and expect from each genre, with a few surprises along the way!

Jeff is a keen author, contributing to several publications (including an IGDA White paper on Casual Games and Unity Creative magazine) and is currently working on a game programming book for a well known publisher.

As a well-known and active member of the Unity development community, Jeff specializes in Unity3d and is the founder / owner of a new Unity3d-focussed game production and consultancy company called PsychicParrot Games. His company has already helped many businesses, big and small, to bring their games to fruition.

Jeff hates writing about himself in the third person. It's just silly.

Comment In: D3Publisher takes over from THQ for DreamWorks tie-ins [News - 02/07/2012 - 12:37]

Perhaps if 95 of tie-ins ...

Perhaps if 95 of tie-ins weren't half-assed platformer beat-em'-ups, the world would actually want to buy these things again. You only need to buy two or three tie-ins and you have almost the entire repertoire of game design for the whole lot.

Comment In: Dirt Showdown Broadens Appeal To Arcade Racing Fans [News - 12/13/2011 - 09:07]

Totally agree with Jacob on ...

Totally agree with Jacob on this. The Dirt series has turned incredible rally simulation into horrible, over-produced, pop-soundtracked freakshows. I liked to rally, not handbrake turn and burnout like a joyrider on a car park whilst being patronized by bad voice actors telling me to 'YouTube it'. That said, if ...

Completely agree. Back in the ...

Completely agree. Back in the 1980s, computer class was exciting to my friends and I because there really was a chance of producing something of commercial quality and something that would entertain our friends and make us rockstars I am a self-taught programmer and I taught myself because I knew ...

This is a stupid move ...

This is a stupid move by clueless idiots who should get the hell out of the industry - you can't tell me that this is necessary for a company that made 926.2 million in PROFIT and had a 19 sales increase in 2010 http://www.montrealgazette.com/technology/Ubisoft earnings fiscal 2010/4773448/story.html Stuff your game, ...

At the end of the ...

At the end of the day, the IGDA are the ones actively standing up for issues like this just as they were the ones standing up to Mythic and speaking for the developers .. regardless of the outcome and we don't know for sure whether Mythic honored their promise or ...

As long as there are ...

As long as there are people out there who are clueless enough to pay for it, they will keep shoveling it. Sad.
