Comment In: Unite 11: Unity Aggressively Upgrades Its Engine For A Flexible Future [News - 09/28/2011 - 04:48]

I disagree. Unity is selling ...

I disagree. Unity is selling a license to build any number of games you want and of course also has the free version . To fairly compare that with UDK you have to note that there is no free version as every game made with it there is a revenue ...

Comment In: Survey: What Makes Players Choose New Games Instead Of Used? [News - 11/23/2010 - 12:40]

I think another major reason ...

I think another major reason for people buying used games over new is due to marketing in the storefronts. A few years back the EB stores here in Ontario used to have shelves full of new games and then a single shelf for used titles. Now it is almost impossible ...

Comment In: GameStop: 'Publishers Can Participate' In Used Biz Via DLC [News - 03/18/2010 - 11:52]

One interesting aspect and likely ...

One interesting aspect and likely a big reason for the push to partner with publishers is that developers/publishers are starting to use DLC to promote the purchase of new games rather than buying used. It is yet to be seen how much of an impact this will make on the ...

Comment In: Pre-GDC: Unity Announces 3.0 Platform, Support For PS3, iPad, And Android [News - 03/08/2010 - 09:24]

Regarding Android vs Linux I ...

Regarding Android vs Linux I am guessing the reason is because Android systems are much more likely to be media consumption devices and support the whole App Store ecosystem, and would therefore likely have a much larger user base. This is just my guess on the matter.

Scott, Sorry I only saw this comment now. It is not only possible but for animation and skinned characters it really is needed beyond anything basic. For floating point operations on the iPhone 3G you will want to write VFP assembly, and on the 3GS, iPad, and future models NEON ...

I'm a little late commenting but I only saw this article now, and I must say this was a great read. My company is currently in the process of building our site and there are some great references and pieces of information here.
