Kriss Daniels's Blog

I am just one of the many talented games industry veterans you have never heard of and never will.

I have worked as both a professional game artist and a professional game programmer across a wide number of platforms. Ranging from programming low level assembler to programming high level game code using more languages than I care to remember. From artistic pixel pushing back when pixels were the size of your fist to creative 3d modelling and animation since computers were no more powerful than your handphone is now.

My skill set is wide.

Recently I have been trying to fully grok social gaming, it's the future don't you know.

Some of my personal work may be found here : http://www.wetgenes.com/

There is something to learn ...

There is something to learn form minecraft, but this sort of dissection of the games elements in an attempt to learn. Is as foolish as measuring the length of string on YoYos to understand why everyone on the streets is playing with one. You are looking in the wrong place. ...

If I haven't had to ...

If I haven't had to restart/respawn/etc within the first 10 minutes then I begin to suspect that I am not playing a game and might just be watching an annoying neurotic movie that just requires constant reassurance from its audience.

Its like explaining a Yo-Yo ...

Its like explaining a Yo-Yo craze by talking about the qualities of the Yo-Yo. Learning everything about Yo-Yos will teach you nothing about what is really going on. Its the reverse problem of someone who eats the menu. You are reading the food and then patting yourself on the back ...

Comment In: The Contradiction Of Linearity [Feature - 10/07/2010 - 05:30]

TLDR I no longer even ...

TLDR I no longer even marginally support this idiot by even attempting to read his drivel. Tomorrow he will be arguing the opposite anyhow. It's almost as if the content is unimportant and self publicity is the only goal.

Comment In: Persuasive Games: Free Speech is Not a Marketing Plan [Feature - 10/04/2010 - 02:45]

Anyone would think mr bogof ...

Anyone would think mr bogof has some sort of vested interest in the rather naive concept of news games. A book to market and promote, maybe.
