With hundreds of mobile games being released daily on the Apple App Store and Google Play, the science of how to get your game discovered is becoming more and more popular. Welcome to the world of App Store Optimization, or ASO, an indispensable and free technique for app promotion.

App Store Optimization is the practice of optimizing various elements of your game’s submission (game title, icon, screenshots, keywords, description) in order to maximize visibility in app store search results. ASO helps a developer to make sure that their game surfaces higher than their competitors’ games, which boosts downloads and increases visibility in chart rankings.

All it takes is a little research and some basic knowledge of marketing principles to give your game a higher profile. Independent developers simply can’t afford to miss such an easy and economically justifiable avenue for game promotion.
