Matt Matthews's Blog
Matt Matthews writes about the business of videogames -- this blog contains his personal opinions on the state of the market.
Let me tell you about the hidden 34 percent decline in GameStop's new software business, how it's affecting used software sales, and how the company will survive nonetheless.
Nintendo's handheld hardware shipments have rebounded slightly, the first sustained turnaround in three years.

In this second part of the 1Q15 update on digital revenue, I present the picture for the purely digital publishers. I also give the latest update on GameStop's digital figures.
In this post, I publish my initial results for a study of publicly available data on digital publishing in the video game industry.
During calendar 2014, Nintendo generated ¥27.1 billion from digital sales. At current exchange rates, that's over US$225 million, but the more important point is that this represents nearly 11% of the company's software revenue.

Nintendo 's digital sales are ...
Nintendo 's digital sales are also down 12 from the same 3 month period last year: from 5.7 billion to 5.0 billion. Compare that to most other companies with a digital segment, and you can see just how hard they are struggling to survive in the new reality.

The original Lara, by my ...
The original Lara, by my recollection, was simply an accomplished adventurer. There was no backstory -- she simply existed, was powerful, and no reasons needed to be given. r n r nMoreover, the first scene in which she appears has three characters: Lara, Jacqueline Natla, and Larson Conway. The man ...
