In the latest Gamasutra video interview, editor Mike Rose talks to Danny Day of QCF Design, just days after the Steam release of the long-awaited Desktop Dungeons. Discussion centers around taking the game from its original prototype back in 2010 to the full version now available for download.

Day also talks about being an independent developer in South Africa, and what's going on the region to get more people making games.

It was not so long ago that Steam releases were generally spaced out at about a couple of new games each week, and developers could count on plenty of exposure time right on the front page of the store.

After watching this video I became interested in the game and looked for it in the New Releases tab. I scrolled and scrolled and eventually found it all the way down at position #72 (around 3/4 of the entries I scrolled past were DLC). The game was released 8 days ago.

I hope someone at Valve understands the pressing need for a new desktop client by now, one designed around now-ubiquitous widescreen monitors and with game tabs that aren't so painfully slow and cumbersome to navigate.
