Raymond Benefield's Blog

I am currently a Computer programmer in the USAF. I play the XBox 360 and am interested in a mix of Game Design and Level Design theories. I am an advocate of the power of keeping a strong and engaged community. I've done a lot of research on Level Design theories and have a few of my own that I have or will write about. Most of these theories refer to multiplayer first person shooter based levels. A few of them are Path Manipulation, Combat Congestion, Incentives, Deterrents, Smooth Spawning, Information Gathering, etc. Don't mind the names they aren't anything specific. I have applied these concepts and theories to custom Halo forge maps, but am also looking into designing for UT3 and Cube 2. I particularly design with Google Sketchup and I am learning the Cube 2 engine as well as the UT3 engine.

Comment In: Aion. Dang it!! [Blog - 10/13/2009 - 12:07]

The restricted flying is quite ...

The restricted flying is quite a big deal, if a company is going to advertise a big thing in the game it really shouldn't be as restricted as the flying in Aion. That is a huge disappointment to many players looking for a change from the standard 2D plane fighting. ...
