A game controller/protective case (so it doesn't have to fit around your existing casing). 2 shoulder buttons, analog stick w/ cover (for when it's in your pocket), and a few face buttons.

Apple's the first party and the one to set the standard. Money..

That just seems like easy money for them and they are the ones in the best position to do it. If you're into gaming and want something a little more hardcore or deeper than this would be fantastic.

Why would you want a push button controller when you've got a 100% customizable touch screen with infinite possibilities? I gotta say that that sounds like more like a waste of funds to me. A lot of R&D for something that I'd wager most developers wouldn't bother supporting. I know I'd rather have a fully customizable control scheme than a list of buttons.

I've wanted this since the iPhone was released!!!

True, that the motion and touch control allows for some unique and innovative control schemes, but it absoultely sucks for simple/classic arcade style games like Pac Man.

I'd want to have a push button controller because people's thumb's get in the screen space. Games like Time Crisis are a pain, games like iDracula are a pain, placing your units perfectly in Fieldrunners (while viewing the full map) puts me in a mad spot. Every game that utilizes the touch screen either has to sacrifice screen space or sacrifice gamer accuracy or obstruction of their view. Maybe it's cheaper just to add on buttons and leave the touch screen as the analog stick (maybe people enjoy having sight of the analog stick on the controller, one of the nice luxuries of life). And again with Apple giving the device a marketing push it leaves some developers trying to capitalize on Apple's ad campaign at first by saying, "We're one of the first to utilize this, come try it out." and then Apple can promote developers who do the most with it from there, expanding its appeal on both ends: Developer and consumer.

And for some games that are whimsical or quirky or overall in need of a unique controller interface the option is still there.
But most games don't.. yet.

Anyways, Stone Bytes, I haven't read up much yet on your blog but I will and yes they are too limited, absolutely imo (and yours).
