Ron Alpert's Blog

I am a 2D/3D Environmental artist for games and other media (features, broadcast) with over a decade of professional experience. I have worked with lots of big companies over the duration of my career (Neversoft, Activision, Rhythm & Hues, 3DO, Obsidian/Sega, Sierra/Vivendi, among others).

Originally from Boston, I have found much success since relocating to Los Angeles several years ago and look forward to working on more great projects (and with more great people!) in the future.

This has been an ongoing ...

This has been an ongoing argument or some time now. There's compelling arguments on both sides unfortunately, the situation already is what it is and anything priced higher than a dollar or two has its work cut out for it when trying to compete especially from relative no-name developers . ...

Comment In: No Doubt Sues Activision Over General-Purpose Band Hero Avatars [News - 11/04/2009 - 02:58]

This sounds like a case ...

This sounds like a case of the band's agent presented a contract, they didn't read the fine print and were unaware of what they were signing and now making a stink about it/being reactionary to the Cobain stuff. Basically both parties should be at fault here - I think a ...

That's great news, I am ...

That's great news, I am actually very surprised. Not to sound like a shill, but you gotta give Nintendo credit for not being money-grubbers when they easily could, they generally throw the customer a bone every now and then. I was more surprised to learn that the Wii Fit Plus ...

Knock another 50 or 100 off this thing and then we'll see if maybe people are clamoring a little bit for this thing. In the meantime it is just a bunch of propaganda - Sony is late to the party.

Of course marketing sells. That's the 1 rule at the end of the day. Certainly you need to make sure there's already a target audience in place that is gonna be receptive to your marketing and all of that again, the difficulty with fresh IPs and strangely-named games . Make ...
