Russell Carroll's Blog   Expert Blogs

I work at Reflexive as a Game Director making casual games (you know that type of game that the industry loves to rant about). Of course I'm given to ranting myself, especially in regards to the animal known as the games industry (we'll leave off the word 'dumb' when describing the animal because it only sometimes applies). I like games. I think that is the core of why I say anything. I play games, I enjoy them, and I care about our industry. I'm also getting older all the time, that's probably a factor as well. I keep looking for games that add meaning to life and am excited whenever the industry or even a developer steps outside of the norm.

Also disappointed more people aren't playing the games on Wii, great stuff, some of the best on the Wii, I'd say a definite second behind Nintendo...but they were largely ignored : . The next time someone says they don't like the Wii, ask them if they played any of the ...

Comment In: Critical Reception: Nintendo's New Super Mario Bros. Wii [News - 11/18/2009 - 05:12]

No issues with the graphics here either, I thought they looked great, there were a couple of times I even said that outloud though they aren't in-line with say Metroid Prime 3 or Galaxy . Additionally my play through the first world was fun. Played both multiplayer stages, coin battles, ...

I tend not to be ...

I tend not to be in the camp that believes that improving the graphic capabilities of the Wii is the right path to take. The reason being is that it is headed right back into the red ocean they escaped with the Wii. The same thoughts about the Wii failing ...

@ Ken October was a 4 week month, September was a 5 week month. With that in consideration, PSP sales were actually up over September 43K/week in October vs 38K/week in September .

Comment In: How the Wii Has Faltered In Japan And What Nintendo Can Do About It [Blog - 11/10/2009 - 07:11]

After I put together the ...

After I put together the release numbers for Nintendo for the last 18 months, I started thinking I haven't been giving those WiiHD rumors enough credence ...then again, it may just be more baffling Nintendo decisions. The last 1.5 years and counting may in some future textbook be the given ...

Comment In: American Council on Exercise Charts 'Underwhelming' Wii Fit Health Benefits [News - 11/10/2009 - 01:12]

WiiFit Plus is a much, ...

WiiFit Plus is a much, much better game, and perhaps interestingly includes METs for the different exercises. The games/exercises from the original would test the same. Notably, the new games are more physically intensive than the games in the original which were more focused on balance , but since they ...
