Ted Southard is the CEO and Lead Designer for DigitalFlux Entertainment, LLC, an Indie game development company located in New York City.
Ted started programming at age 10 on an IBM PCjr, and then moved into the Indie scene in the early 90s making mods of absolutely no consequence for his favorite games, such as XWing Vs Tie-Fighter. He spent four years in the United States Marine Corps learning about counter-terrorism and trying to create fudge brownies using sugar, cocoa powder, and non-dairy creamer found in MREs (didn't work). He spent the next 11 years working as a Desktop and Network Support tech in various sectors of industry while creating plugins for trueSpace and honing his game design skills on the side.
Now, Ted is targeting MMOs with the development of Epic Frontiers (http://EpicFrontiers.DigitalFlux.com), a skill-based, levelless, classless MMO with many advanced features.

I'd like to call BS ... I'd like to call BS on the spy part, mainly because he's a former Marine and has an anti-Iranian regime video game to his name. Maybe the CIA is not that bright, but it's bright enough not to send such a tasty morsel into a country to spy for it ... |

@Kevin: Positioning is a great ... @Kevin: Positioning is a great tactical feature. If you walk into one of the many little natural valleys in WoW, you'll find NPCs MOBs positioned all over, including up on some high-ground spots, but if you initiate combat, they close distance. If the NPCs had an awareness of positioning and ... |

There probably needs to be ... There probably needs to be a specific notation system created to represent dialog trees other than what standard flowchart symbols define. Also, it may be inherently impossible to create a 2D representation of a dialog tree on a piece of paper without losing certain information, rather than using an application ... |

I think there needs to ... I think there needs to be actual roleplaying mechanics built into games. Sure, combat is all well and good, but there is very little attempt out there to bring actual roleplaying into the game. Right now, it's all done with walls of text, cut scenes, and backstory, and the player ... |

I think these guys are ... I think these guys are very much on to the next true generation of MMO's as opposed to the current crop of MMO's claiming to be next gen but only offering graphical upgrades . This game will be very interesting indeed. |

They card for movie tickets ... They card for movie tickets theoretically anyway , so I don't think that this is a big deal. The government is taking a step to help enforce something the industry manages, without affecting the industry's management of the rating or affecting the development of the games themselves. It also shields ... |
