Comment In: Recreating the time mechanics of Braid (Part 2) [Blog - 03/13/2013 - 03:18]

Why don 't you store ...

Why don 't you store per frame info for the last say 5 minutes, and then 1 per 10 frames for anything beyond that. No one will remember their exact movements 5 minutes in the past so interpolations are less likely to uncanny vally, and the cost for storing 5 ...

Comment In: The Short End of Skyrim [Blog - 02/19/2013 - 02:08]

Not saying anything against the ...

Not saying anything against the author, but the premise of this post just shows how weird CRPG 's have become. r n r n8 hours is a perfectly fine period of time to play a game. Effectively this post says I could only tolerate this game for a paltry 8 ...

Comment In: PlayStation 4: Five takeaways for developers [News - 02/20/2013 - 08:34]

I get the feeling this ...

I get the feeling this was kinda rushed to pre-empt whatever MS is going to announce later this year, which may account for the slightly off game announcements. Then again, the business is run by Kaz Hirai he of Ridge Raaacceeeeer fame so maybe they just don 't care that ...

Comment In: Carmack: Supporting Linux isn't worth the hassle at the moment [News - 02/06/2013 - 07:50]

Thanks for the comment. I ...

Thanks for the comment. I know what you mean about the library optimizations, but you can 't develop for a moving target. This means you have to assume one of the more static distros and you can 't offer full support for an distro that the user has customized, which ...

Comment In: Gabe Newell's vision for Steam: More choice, more democracy, less Greenlight [News - 02/06/2013 - 03:14]

To people who are posting ...

To people who are posting greenlight sucks unless you already have a large fanbase . Hello That 's what Valve is after. They want to grow their platform. One way to do that is by expanding their content and then marketing through their own methods. The other, and probably one ...

Comment In: Valve's Newell opens up about his 'Steam Box' plans [News - 01/09/2013 - 07:00]

I hate to be a ...

I hate to be a naysayer... r n r nI really want this to do well, but if it 's just a PC with a controller attached I 'm not sure how into it I 'll be. r n r nThey will have to deliver something with either a price ...

Comment In: What went wrong with XNA/XBLIG? [Blog - 02/02/2013 - 12:30]

Not defending MS at all, ...

Not defending MS at all, but they are into big ticket, multiple 100 mil games. You can see how it would be hard to get them to spend more than the minimum amount of time on something like XBLIG.

Comment In: Accessible Strategy is not an Oxymoron: Design Pillars for Skulls of the Shogun [Feature - 02/01/2013 - 04:40]

I am not sure if ...

I am not sure if this is a crosspost from somewhere else and so whether the authors will see this comment or not, but I would really like to hear about the experience of developing a game for Windows 8/RT. r n r nSpecifically, did you have any specific challenges ...

Comment In: Why GTA V's delay could cause an industry-wide ripple effect [News - 01/31/2013 - 05:42]

SONY 's entertainment division is ...

SONY 's entertainment division is one of their powerhouses hence the current overall CEO used to head SE . It 's their dedication to big ticket electronics that is killing them. Eventually they 'll be forced to acknowledge this and the entertainment division will fly free so I don 't ...

Comment In: How Malevolence hit 500% of its Kickstarter goal [News - 01/28/2013 - 05:36]

Great talk and tips, thanks. ...

Great talk and tips, thanks. r n r nAs an aside, I like the concept of your game, but what honestly made me remember the game and yourself was your dramatic gamasutra photo. Just goes to show you never know whats going to work in marketing.
