Rather poor analogies on Orth ... Rather poor analogies on Orth 's part, not to mention the blatant thoughtlessness he has for non-urban customers. r n r nAs Rob Fearon points out, the marketing term of always on belies the actual behavior, which is useless unless online as opposed to always connectible. Even my mobile phone ... |

Great panel filled with good ... Great panel filled with good points. It addresses the developers and consumers in working together to adjust the image issues games have amassed, but I think it 'll be tougher to address ones like 4-6 than others. |

Comment In: Sweatshop game too controversial for Apple [News - 03/21/2013 - 10:25]

I would be uncomfortable too ... I would be uncomfortable too if a game mirrored one of my companies primary means of producing products. Then people might end up thinking about how the overpriced gadgets they buy are made, and then I 'll end up having to sacrifice a minute amount of profit to appease all ... |

Really interesting, and as a ... Really interesting, and as a huge fan of the RPG genre it was their chimeric nature that originally got me into video games. As a child, the breadth of systems present in them fascinated me, but as I completed more and more of them, the points you mentioned became progressively ... |

It 's sad, but I ... It 's sad, but I would hardly say it 's an inaccurate assessment. For most, success is determined by total profitability, and despite how much we want to believe we the players aren 't as narrow-minded as these publishers you mention Capcom , you can 't deny that a good ... |

It 's great to hear ... It 's great to hear the opinions of experienced IF writers/designers, and to get the sense that the situation at present is the best it has ever been. I was definitely intrigued by the ease of use and accessibility that many of these tools provide, and was actually a bit ... |

Comment In: SOCIAL GAMES: UNDERSTANDING DESIGN [Blog - 03/13/2013 - 12:22]

I agree with you that ... I agree with you that one of the major flaws in social gaming is the lack of conclusive goals outside of the short term, which stems from the desire to keep people playing endlessly. r n r nI do like the idea of episodic play, but I 'm curious on ... |

Comment In: The Design Landscape [Blog - 03/11/2013 - 02:53]

You use some clever metaphors ... You use some clever metaphors here, and upon reflection I consider the idea that designers explore a landscape of possible game designs to be more honest than the presumption that anyone is actually creating new game designs. r n r nWhat most caught my attention was The Design Landscape paragraph, ... |

I managed to catch your ... I managed to catch your talk at Indiecade while on break from volunteering, and truth be told was curious why you avoided using the term player agency even as you described it. Having read this, I now understand that this was done in order to make the talk more accessible, ... |
