Fabio Daniel Ribeiro's Blog

I'm a beginner game designer, 28 years, with almost 15 of them studying game design and developing tons of game prototypes, home-made or academic. I develop both electronic and board games, and I'm specialist creating, refining and analysing game systems (mechanics, rules, structures). That's what I use to talk about here. As I'm Brazilian, Christian, and completely a soccer lover, it's common for me to discuss game design topics using soccer games and principles as a reference. But even with that, I talk about a broad range of topics, covering many types of games and game genres. I'm available to job offerings in Game Design, Game Production or 3D art (even this doesn't being my greatest expertise), in Brazil or any other country. I teached Game Design courses around Brazil for some years, was part on one of the first Brazilian books about Game Design, and prototyped several games and game design docs. I am completely capable of developing any kind of game with any spec, current-gen or not, especially soccer games! \0/

Some thoughts about game business
Posted by Fabio Daniel Ribeiro on Mon, 29 Jun 2009 10:43:00 EDT in Game Design
There are some misunderstanding about microtransactions, gamedev principles, and how this could be the future of our media (as much people consider this in our industry). I will just rise some thoughts to discuss about that.

@Marco at least for me, ...

@Marco at least for me, the point is not the charge itself, but how and why it's done. And I'm sure that there's not simply because they can, or because they want our money there is better and more acceptable ways of been paid - PS2 compatibility is only one ...

Comment In: Analysis: Is Hard The New Good? [News - 02/02/2010 - 09:27]

Scott, you explained part of ...

Scott, you explained part of what I stated in a less harsh way. Again, that's a much more complex subject to talk than simply commenting here. But you're right, that's time to our industry to really grow up, and assume that this stupid herd behavior wouldn't led to anything healthy. ...

@ Christopher Wragg: I completely agree, religion is as escapist as videogames. But I am not talking about religion, let it to religious people - I am talking about Christ, a thing COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from that. And again, I agree that people will escape on anything that feels good to ...

Anyway, I finished a new post right now completing the first one about this subject. But now I think I will shorten the phrases, and see how better the writing can be : Living and learning, that's how it works...
