Moving off Java development and on to Unity, I'm finding everything pretty engaging so far. Of course I've yet to actually produce anything myself.

My project is all finished, marked and returned. I graduated university with a 2:1 in computer science which I'm pretty pleased with. This project has highlighted a few things that I need to take more seriously in future though.

It's probably a testament to bad planning, but a choice I made early on in the development of my program has forced me to rewrite a lot of code. It's all back to where I want it now though.

I'm tackling the meat of the behind-the-scenes code for my centipede game. This means sending and receiving commands through sockets and making sure exceptions are handled if one or both machines happens to die.

After working at (among other things) my game prototype for the last month, I'm starting to get something that resembles a usable piece of software.

After a prolonged planning phase, I'm moving forward with my project development. I had to learn a few lessons about expectation management and interpreting the project brief, but I feel like I can start to make progress now.

Speaking from experience, I 'd agree that forum marketing is generally not worth the time investment, especially for a smaller company. If you try to conceal it, it 's subversive and can actually damage your product if caught out, if you 're overt then people will generally ignore it.
