Mark was a software developer writing desktop applications against databases before he took a leap into the world of game development. Specialising in networking code Mark is the author of FalconUDP - a protocol for sending small messages frequently written for multiplayer games. Currently with Gnomic Studios building Square Heroes - a comic multiplayer arena shooter.

In this post I discuss the challenges of making fast-paced multiplayer network games playable over the Internet and techniques to overcome them. Drawing from how the AAA classics did it and my own experience as an Indie developer making such a game.
