Rodain is a humble South African dev with a penchant for journalism and a keen interest in seeing the so-called "dark continent" produce some high quality game developers.
Although he dabbles about with his own indie projects from time to time, Rodain prefers to sit back, analyse and publicise other people's work from the comfort of his easy chair over at Dev.Mag, South Africa's own online game development magazine.
Rodain also writes regularly for two local publications, SACM and NAG Online, and is a member of South Africa's Game.Dev group.
Rodain also enjoys referring to himself in the third person. Nobody knows why.

I'll agree with one thing ... I'll agree with one thing for sure: the Einstein quote would certainly have been an important addition, and in retrospect it's a bit of a forehead slap that I missed that one out. I'm glad to see that this is generating some discussion. It's not a very black and white ... |

Excellent article I've read its ... Excellent article I've read its ilk in the past, but yours is definitely the one I'd point to first if I had to recommend something for indies to learn from. I'm humbled. I also love how the article itself doubles in places as a marketing prop for your own game ... |

1 on the final story. ... 1 on the final story. It's an interesting way to look at things. : As some have already mentioned, this is done fairly often with deadlines in quite a few fields. I've not ever seen it done with memory constraints, though |

I've always enjoyed the aforementioned ... I've always enjoyed the aforementioned use of an occasional timer in FPS games. Sometimes they're thrust on rather tackily though, so I'd be reluctant to acknowledge this as an all-round good idea . Still, yeah ... putting the player into mild panic really does remove some of the hoarding elements ... |
