4pm - Indie Game The Movie
A documentary that looks at the underdogs of the video game industry, indie game developers, who sacrifice money, health and sanity to realize their lifelong dreams of sharing their creative visions with the world. Following the making of the games SUPER MEAT BOY, FEZ and BRAID, this Sundance award-winning film captures the tension and drama by focusing on these developers' vulnerability and obsessive quest to express themselves through a 21st-century art form. Directed by Lisanne Pajot and James Swirsky.
5.30pm - Refreshments
A chance to meet the panelists and mingle with fellow gamers.
6.00pm - Indie Game: An Australian Perspective
In an industry climate where AAA game companies are dropping like flies, indie dev teams are emerging at an explosive rate. Nevertheless, starting an indie game company is no feat for the weak-hearted. In this panel, we tap into the experiences of several striving indie game veterans in a bold discussion about the pain, the sweat, and of course the satisfaction that goes behind the pursuit of their lifetime passion in Australia.
