GCAP 2013 Developing and Marketing Games as a Service
October 23, 2013
Christina Chen of Surprise Attack will be hosting a one day workshop on Game as a Service and free-to-play during day three of GCAP 2013.
The workshop aims to give participants an overall understanding of how to develop, operate and market Games as a Service rather than Games as a Product. It focuses on free-to-play as the business model and includes sessions on the production process, designing monetisation for free-to-play, how to approach metrics and analytics, as well as sessions from Microsoft on running a cloud back-end and Facebook on using their platform to acquire users.
'Developing and Marketing Games as a Service' will be divided into two sessions. The first session, hosted by Christina, will cover 'Running Production for Games as a Service' and 'Monetisation and Metrics in Free-to-play'. The second session will feature Rocky Heckman of Microsoft and Mark Teo, Channing Hancock, Xiaochen Low of Facebook. Rocky will be presenting 'Power, Reach, Money - Cloud Power Your Games' - where you can learn how to use cloud computing to power your games around the world. The team from Facebook will be presenting 'Facebook Platform and Advertising: How to maximise value in the world's largest global game network' - a hands-on workshop that will feature success stories from Facebook partners around the world and demonstrate how you can leverage Facebook platform integration for organic game promotion.
