| Bio:
|
| Daniel
McMillan studied Graphics Communication at the Detroit Center for
Creative Studies and Macomb Community College. He has always aspired
to create visual images and stories, and his interests lean towards
filmmaking. After working in TV and Film FX for 11 years and then
live show IATSE stage craft for 6 years, McMillan now makes games.
As he puts it, "Entertainment and escapism seems to be the worlds
I consistently contribute to. I've helped others make a lot of money
and look good. Without God I can do nothing. My best is yet to come."

| Inspiration:
|
| Since
my childhood, I have continually found inspiration in the works of
Joe Johnston, Alex Nino, Syd Mead, and Frank Frazetta. I also remember
being shaped by the thinking of Da Vinci, Poe, Michaelangelo, Van
Gogh, and the practical wisdom of the Proverbs. Musically, I appreciate
the work of Bernard Herrmann, Williams, Poledouris, and Horner, not
to mention the lyrics and storytelling of bands like Rush, Styx, Dream
Theater, and The Cure. |
| Favorite
Game Art: |
| I
like action games that immerse me while I'm in the world. I find the
re-interpretation of ideas and the gameplay itself to be the most
memorable aspects. As for games I like: Pirates, Ultima V, Starflight,
Command and Conquer, Dark Forces II, Tribes, Quake II, Unreal, Trespasser,
and Drakan all keep me playing. |
| Why
I Got into the Industry: |
| It
was an accidental coincidence. I played too many games and then began
making my own board-game system. Then I met some people who were looking
for some help. |
| Tools I Can't
Live Without: |
| My
computer, and my drawing/painting tools, and a CD player. A PC is
like a toolbox (Pandors'a Box) that you have yet to open. You still
need to hang onto some skills (like a real painting). Music helps
to inspire my creative visions. |
| Music I Listen
to While Working: |
| Soundtracks
mostly. All kinds of soundtracks, classic stuff as well as newer stuff.
You can tell when a composer is inspired. Sometimes I listen to "Scooter"
when I need a high-energy boost. |
