Snow

Snow

Actually, I made this setting for my girlfriend. I wanted to recreate a realistic snow place, like the place we used to go for winter vacation. I used a watercolor painting as a base model, and then I worked on the lighting. I used a matte painting, the way I did before in the forest for Dragon Lore 2. You can see the real trees in the front (I think I should have rotated them more). The snow texture was only a bump texture mapping with a white/blue color. I didn’t use a lot of lights — I set them behind the real trees to give the shadow. I set a blue light to give to the shadow the cold atmosphere and that’s all. The sun was added with a flare from PhotoShop. I could have use the one from 3D Studio 4, but I think this one looks better.
