Bio:

Adrian Nesterenko is a student of cinema and plans to go to work in the game design facet of the electronic gaming industry. He fancies games that are able to provoke emotion in the same way that a fine movie or painting does. He lives in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Inspiration:

Hideo Kojima, to me, is the man at the zenith of modern gaming. I look to his works very often as sources of inspiration. If Squaresoft did not convince the conventional gamer that video games are, in fact, a form of art, Kojima will.

Why I Want to Get into the Industry:

So many media are merging into one right now, or if they're not merging they're at least rubbing off on one another. It's a very exciting time to be a participant in creating the media. It has been proven with games like Dance Dance Revolution that there will still be room for games that are soley reflexive, while the Resident Evils and Metal Gears prove that there is an undeniable market for games that play like interactive movies. It could be very soon that games that play like books become more acceptable to pitch to the American audiences like they have been in Japan with the portable systems becoming more powerful.

Right now, it's less about the size of the graphics processor and more about how creative the games are. I can really get into that, and strive to.

Favorite Game Audio/Art:

Continuing on the Metal Gear theme, Yoji Shinkawa is my favorite illustrator, along with noted haunted attraction UV artist Stuart Smith. Rolan's Curse for the Game Boy had excellent music in it; it reminds me of walking or driving a long distance on an overcast day.

Tools I Can't Live Without:

So long as my brain is functional, I am content to be using any tools that are at my disposal because I like to keep myself challenged with new avenues of creation.

Music I Listen to While Working:

It really differs. I often don't listen to any music because I end up surfing around iTunes for hours on end instead of working. When I do, I usually listen to things like Japanese Telecom, Front 242, any of Claus Larsen's projects, Fox 'N Wolf, and so on. Lots of electronic. I've been heavily into Micromusic, which given the video game origins makes perfect sense.

Favorite Book:

Para-Psychology by Rene Sudre.

Favorite Movie:

Hilarious Posters by Georges Melies.

Current Project:

I'm currently contributing work for a modification for the game Blood called Rage Against The Machine. The meaning of the title eludes me. I'll have to ask the guy in charge why it is called that but, for now, I'm just enjoying the opportunity to draw zombies and cultists.
