I'm a storyboard artist, production illustrator and animator for the motion picture, television, comic book, and video game industries. I am/have been producing art for these industries for 16+ years now and don't intend to slow down. |

Life. This encompasses all the thing I hold dear: comics, monster movies, girls, the beach, the mountains, riding ATVs, my family and friends, and back yard BBQs.
Artistically: Egon Schiele, JW Waterhouse, Norman Rockwell, Edvard Munch.

Without a doubt Stranger's Wrath from Oddworld Inhabitants. They made crazy games and ones that were very inspirational to look at. As far as I am concerned they wrote the book on game production and what is possible in games. Now they are moving into TV and movies, and I expect they will continue to product eye-popping and immersive work. If you guys read this, call me!

I Got into the Industry: |
|
I started drawing and inking for Marvel Comics, DC Comics, and other publishers full time and was doing all kinds of freelance work. When the comic book market crashed, lots of creatives were out trying to find work, so I decided that I needed to morph into some other similar yet different type of work.
The same guy that got me into 2D animation, Andy, got a job at Sony Computer Entertainment America in San Diego animating for video games. I went to San Diego one summer for ComicCon looking for new comic work and stayed with Andy. One morning, Andy said his boss wanted to meet me, and he might have something for me if I was interested in going on staff. I was hesitant, but long story short, I end up in San Diego working in the video game industry doing concept work, storyboards, and 3D character animation.
At this point I found myself doing 3D video games, not 2D animation, and doing well for myself. The serious technology learning curve was very hard for me as a traditional artist. It still is sometimes. I learned it, but I was never completely happy at Sony.
Then, I met a long-time friend, who from happened to be the creative director of Red Storm Entertainment of all places, at E3, and he asked me if I was interested in moving back to the east coast, to which I was happy to do by this time. Now I'm back on the east coast doing 3D character animation, concept, and storyboards at Redstorm and get to do more drawing than I was ever allowed to at Sony during the day, and freelance in the movie and TV industry at night.

| Tools
I Can't Live Without: |
|
The basics... a drawing table, a pencil, and a piece of paper. That's all I will ever need... okay... maybe some paint and canvas, but that's it. I tend to stay away from computers as much as possible.

I Listen to While Working: |
| Everything from Black Label Society to Merle Haggard to movie scores to classical. Depends on what kind of mood I am in at the time. |

I'll answer this way... I like everything, but especially horror, and true crime. I tend to read short stories more often. I'm too busy to sit down and read a big thick novel. I'd rather be drawing.

It's a toss up between When Harry met Sally, Alien, Jaws, and Night of the Living Dead.
