Side Effects Software Offers Houdini to California Animators for $300

Side Effects Software has launched a pilot project whereby animators can obtain a fully-enabled, non-commercial six-month license of Houdini 4.0 plus training for $300 US. Those with one or more years of animation experience living in California can now test the award-winning 3D animation software that is used by numerous digital content creation leaders including Digital Domain, DreamWorksSKG, Electronic Arts, Namco, Nickelodeon, Rhythm & Hues, Sega, Sony Computer Entertainment and Weta Ltd. While currently a California-based test project, the success of this offering will determine if the program will be expanded.

The $300 "home-training" package also includes free enrollment in an introductory Houdini workshop (Santa Monica and San Francisco) and a $200 certificate towards additional training courses. Participants in the program will receive a CD of Houdini 4.0 in its entirety along with documentation and tutorials that walk users through some of the program's main capabilities. Access to a peer-support mailing list and limited Side Effects technical support via email are also available. For more detailed information about the program and any restrictions that may apply, contact Side Effects at rsvp@sidefx.com.
