3Q Inc. Shows Off its Image Cloning Capabilities

3Q Inc., targeting 3-D human form technology for the electronic gaming industry, is launching its "Q Clone Generator" in select Babbage's stores throughout the country. Able to instantaneously capture high-quality 3-D digital images of people, the "Q Clone Generator" will enable PC gamers to capture a 3D avatar of themselves and upload it into games such as Quake III Arena and Half-Life: Opposing Force.

3Q's "Q Clone Generator" looks like a passport photo booth, where users enter, and digital cameras capture a realistic 3-D clone in about 8 milliseconds. It then allows users to add defining characteristics such as scars or an eye patch, a helmet or hair type, and a body that suits the character. Users can then take the clone home on a CD-ROM, and upload it into a game

The official launch will be on Friday, November 10th, with the unveiling of its first "Q Clone Generator" in Babbage's Software Etc., San Jose store. Other in-store events with the "Q Clone Generator" take place in Dallas (11/11) and Seattle (11/13).
