Indrema Tools from Metrowerks and
Metro Link

Indrema Entertainment Systems, creator of the open source Indrema game console, and Metrowerks, a leader in multiplatform development tools for desktop and embedded systems, have agreed to collaborate on the development of a version of CodeWarrior for the Indrema Entertainment System (IES) which will be included for little or no cost in the Indrema Entertainment Software Development Kit (IESDK).

Indrema will also collaborate with Metro Link, a leader in graphical display software for high performance embedded Linux systems, on key open source technologies behind the IES. The development agreement will ensure the timely release of OpenStream and Xtrema, two core components of the IESDK.

The IESDK will include several open standards for game development including: Mesa3D for 3D Graphics, OpenAL for 3D audio, OpenStream for video and Xtrema for display management. An early 0.3 version of the IESDK will be released on the Indrema Developer Network for free download before the end of 2000. This version will include Mesa3D, OpenAL and the DV Linux kernel, while the OpenStream and Xtrema technologies will be included in later versions, offering greater control of hardware accelerated video.

The Indrema Developer Network, where the CodeWarrior tools will be available, offers developers a "one-stop shop" for Indrema development tools. On the IDN developers can find hardware specifications for the Indrema console, download free SDKs, interact with other Indrema developers and apply for certification on the IES platform.
