RAD Updates its RAD Video Tools

RAD has announced several updates to its RAD Video Tools, which includes Bink, a "better-than-MPEG-II" class codec, and Smacker video compression technologies. The new versions include a range of new features including image resizing and digital image filtering (brightness, contrast, black clamp, de-interlacing, smoothing, and gamma correction).

In addition to updates to the RAD Video Tools, RAD has also released a new version of the Miles Sound System. The Miles Sound System is developer library that completely handles all aspects of sound - digital audio, interactive MIDI, Red Book CD audio, 3D audio, Internet voice chat, and even decompression (MP3 and ADPCM). The new Miles 6.0 features the addition of Internet voice chat, new 3D Audio support for DirectSound, DirectSound 7, RSX, EAX 1 and 2, A3D 1 and 2, Dolby, Fast 2D, and Qsound. It includes occlusion and obstruction emulation for all providers, and 18 new run-time DSP-style digital audio filters for the 2D digital audio system. The new version comes with all new documentation and example files.
