Super Mario To Hit Virtual Console For Christmas

Nintendo of America has confirmed that the NES original Super Mario Bros will be coming to the Wii's Virtual Console on Christmas, as well as a selection of popular Genesis and TurboGrafx franchises.

In a release countering recent internet rumors of free Virtual Console titles released on Christmas, Nintendo has published the full list of titles arriving to the download service on the morning of the 25th.

In addition to the NES original Super Mario Bros, offered at the NES standard price of 500 points ($5), the update will also bring the SNES port of Street Fighter II: The World Warrior and Super Castlevania IV.

The update will also see the release of the Genesis cult classic Toe Jam & Earl, and the TurboGrafx-16 release R-TYPE. All Virtual Console titles outside of Super Mario Bros will be sold at 800 points.

In addition, Nintendo said it plans to release the NES original Baseball, as well as NES street-scrap fighting title Urban Champion to the Virtual Console on New Years morning, at 500 points each.
