Carbon Takes Top Slot In UK Charts

With otherwise little upset or movement across best-selling games in the UK, Need For Speed: Carbon, the latest in EA's popular racing franchise, has overtaken FIFA 07 at the top of the charts, with holiday sales pushing Brain Training into the top ten.

Chart Track notes that with EA continuing to hold the top sales slot, despite the change in titles, 2006 has become the publisher's 'most dominant year ever,' with EA holding a record 26 weeks at the top of the All Formats chart.

WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2007 saw the biggest drop for the week ending December 23rd, falling from its previous number three slot down to number six after seeing a brief spike in sales the week prior. Dr Kawashima's Brain Training rose three spots to number eight in the top ten, pushing Microsoft’s Gears of War and Lucasarts' Lego Star Wars II down to nine and ten, and bumping THQ's Cars off the top ten. Brain Training's rise also marks the highest sales week ever for a DS title.

Third party Wii titles have also begun to make their way to the charts, with Ubisoft's Rayman Raving Rabbids and Red Steel debuting at number 32 and 34, respectively. Nintendo's kid-oriented brain-trainer Big Brain Academy for the DS has debuted at 37, followed by Backbone's Sonic Rivals, Tomb Raider: Legend, and Krome Studios' The Legend of Spyro: A New Beginning, all new or returning to the charts.
