Officials from outsourcing and post production specialist Babel Media have announced that the company is to double the capacity of its facility in Montreal, Canada, with plans to recruit an additional 350 personnel for a total of 500.

Although the company made its name via translation services it now offers a wider range of post production services across all formats, including functionality QA, localized translation and audio creation, localization QA, localized packaging and manuals.

The company’s Montreal offices were opened in August 2005, adding to those in Brighton, England; New Delhi, India; and Los Angeles. The increase in demand for the company’s services is an indication of the increasing importance of markets outside the U.S. and Japan and the larger number of near simultaneous software releases worldwide.

Montreal itself has also seen an ever increasing prominence as a worldwide centre for games development, with Eidos Interactive announcing the creation of a new studio in the city last week. Montreal has also increasingly become a focus of development for other major publishers, most prominently rivals Electronic Arts and Ubisoft.

“We have recently signed contracts with clients who, without exaggeration, own some of the greatest Intellectual Property (IP) in the world,“ said Algy Williams, managing director of Babel. “We will be testing their games across all platforms, including PS3 and Xbox 360, and we need to recruit talented and motivated people who are looking for a career in the games industry”.
