Leipzig Convention Announces Expansion, Concert Details
Organizers of the Leipzig Games Convention have announced that with just a few months left before its August 23 - 26 opening, the 2007 GC has expanded both its floor space and its exhibitor list, and released further details on its accompanying game music concert.
390 exhibitors are expected for this year's Game Convention, up from 368 exhibitors in 2006, and the convention floor space has increased 28 per cent to 115,000 square metres (gross).
Part of this space will be taken up by an expanded "Family Entertainment" exhibit, with information on "Children/Family Games", "Learning and Knowledge", "Media Literacy", and new "Multimedia Education", "Art and Culture" and "Training and Careers" sections.
The convention will also be held alongside a public 90 minute performance of computer game music on August 22 at Leipzig's Gewandhaus featuring conductor Andy Brick and the FILMharmonic Orchestra Prague, this time covering musical pieces from StarCraft, Final Fantasy IX, Ragnorak 2, Stranglehold, Metal Gear Solid 2: Snake Eater, Secret of Mana, The Abbey, Turrican 2,
and other popular classics in a Commodore 64 and Commodore Amiga medley.
The concert will also see special appearances by Japanese opera singer Izumi Masuda and German singer Conny Kollet from Germany.
All of these events will follow the previously announced
Games Convention Developers Conference on August 20-22, featuring three separate program tracks covering game development, business, and science, and will include international keynotes, workshops, and panel discussions.
More information on all the events can be found at the Games Convention's official website
