Double Victory For Final Fantasy In Japanese Charts
Advertisement
Sales have dropped by an expectedly large amount in the wake of the Golden Week series of holidays in Japan, but Square Enix has been behind both the top two selling games of the week in the Japanese game charts.

Although other sales numbers are drastically down on the previous week, the remake of PS one classic Final Fantasy Tactics on PSP has recorded impressive first week sales of 154,891 units.

By comparison, the next best selling game of the week, Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings on DS, sold only 38,003 units. There were no other new releases in the top ten, with mass market regulars More Brain Training (aka Brain Age 2) and New Super Mario Bros. both taking advantage in the lull in activity.

In fact there is only one other new entry in the whole top thirty, with Yuke’s' Wrestle Kingdom 2: Pro Wrestling Sekai Taisen for PlayStation 2 entering at number twenty-six.

It is the only PlayStation 2 game in the top thirty, with the only other titles, apart from Final Fantasy Tactics, not for Nintendo formats being Monster Hunter Portable 2nd for PSP at number twenty-two and Final Fantasy: Anniversary Edition for PSP at number twenty-seven.

(Hardware sales data for the week in Japan will be available from tomorrow morning.)
