Clean Sweep For Nintendo Formats In Japanese Charts
Advertisement
For the third time this year the top ten of the Japanese weekly software sales chart is entirely composed of games for Nintendo formats, six of those published by Nintendo themselves. The chart is topped by Dragon Quest Swords on the Wii, with impressive first week sales of over 305,000 units.

With The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass still selling extremely strongly at number two, the second highest entry of the week is what translates as My Housekeeping Diary at number three. The latest Nintendo DS Touch! Generations title sold almost 47,000 units in its debut week.

The other three new top ten entries have proven only minor hits, with Konami’s latest game licensed from manga and anime Kirarin Revolution selling just over 24,500 units on the Nintendo DS.

Tecmo’s first Monster Farm (known as Monster Rancher in the West) game on the Nintendo DS debuts at number nine with just under 22,000 units sold. Meanwhile, Capcom’s Rockman franchise (Mega Man in the West) continues to find limited success on the Nintendo DS with just over 21,000 units sold.

The domination of Nintendo formats continues until number fourteen, with Banpresto’s Super Robot Wars: Original Generations - one of four PlayStation 2 games in the top fifty. There are two PSP titles in the top fifty, with the highest ranked being Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters at number thirty-three.

The PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 have one game each in the top fifty, with Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 at number twenty-six for the Xbox 360 and My Summer Vacation 3 for the PlayStation 3 at number thirty-five.
