Rockstar Announces Bully For 360 And Wii

After announcing Rockstar Games presents Table Tennis for the Wii earlier in the week, officials from Rockstar have also confirmed that a special edition of the controversial Bully will be released for the Xbox 360 and Wii.

Before its release, and in most cases even before it had been previewed to the press, the original game on PlayStation 2 was severely criticized by a range of politicians and action groups - for what was assumed to be gameplay which condoned bullying.

Eventually, the title of the game was changed in Europe to Canis Canem Edit (Latin for “dog eat dog” – the motto of the fictional school in the game). Attempts to have the game banned in the U.S., where it was released under its original name, though, had failed.

When finally released, the game was given only a Teen rating in North America and received positive reviews in both the mainstream and specialist press, with many noting that in the final game, bullying is not the core game mechanic that must be acted on.

The new version of the game is subtitled Scholarship Edition, with Rockstar promising “additional new content”, though no details have yet been given. The release date is given as “this winter”.
