Video game website GameSpot and the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences (AIAS) have announced a partnership to host the 11th annual Interactive Achievement Awards, which will be held on February 7, 2008 at Red Rock Casino & Resort in Las Vegas during the 2008 D.I.C.E. Summit.

According to the announcement, GameSpot will provide a live webcast of the awards show, allowing its audience to see the traditionally industry-only event. The Interactive Achievement Awards are peer-based awards dedicated to recognizing the products, individuals, and development teams that have propelled advancement in the industry.

The D.I.C.E. (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) Summit is a once-yearly conference dedicated to exploring approaches to the creative process and artistic expression as they apply to the development of interactive entertainment. The Academy has over 10,000 members, with the board comprised of senior executives from companies including Bioware/Pandemic, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Nintendo, Sony and Ubisoft.

GameSpot vice president Josh Larson said, “With games now seen as a truly mainstream entertainment medium, the gaming industry is due to have an awards event that possesses the credibility on par with the Oscars or Emmys. Not only will GameSpot give gamers access to this exclusive event through our live broadcast, we will also enhance their experience even further by providing the fun, interactive elements they enjoy.”
