XGen Studios (Pillage the Village, Motherload), an Alberta, CA-based developer of browser-based games, has announced it is now an authorized Wii developer, and is currently at work on an original title for Nintendo's WiiWare service, slated to release alongside the platform in early 2008.

XGen says the upcoming WiiWare title is inspired by an "existing cult classic" from the studio, but the company revealed few other details other than that the game allows up to 4 simultaneous players and uses the Wii remote. XGen director of operations Jordan Dubuc also hinted at a "jump-in, jump-out casual style."

XGen founded its studio in 2003, and the titles it has since developed feature on game portals including EA's Pogo Network, MTV, Miniclip, and Channel4.

Said XGen president Skye Boyes, "We're thrilled to announce that the classic game play enjoyed by Millions is coming to your living room in the form of a new title with compelling additions. We're taking advantage of the creative freedom afforded by WiiWare to bring fans a captivating co-op game, with great competitive elements and irresistibly charming art direction."
