Chair, Card Partner For Ender's Game-Inspired Series

Chair Entertainment Group (Undertow) and author Orson Scott Card have partnered to create a series of video games based on the "Battle Room" found in Card's sci-fi novel Ender's Game.

In the novel, students training to join Earth's International Fleet in combat against the alien Formics undergo war simulations in the Battle Room in order to learn military theory and battle tactics.

Under the terms of the agreement, Chair obtains the exclusive rights to develop Ender’s Game "Battle Room" video games on next-generation consoles, handheld platforms, and PC. The company will collaborate with Card on development later this year, with the first title expected to release on downloadable platforms.

The two parties previously collaborated on the Chair Entertainment Group property Empire, with Card releasing an initial novel in 2006, and future developments in the works with Warner Bros. to create a feature film based on the property, along with forthcoming video games and comic books.

Prior to starting Chair, founders Donald and Geremy Mustard also worked with Card at GlyphX on their Majesco-published Advent Rising, with Card providing dialogue and screenplay support to the Mustard's story.

Chair creative director Donald Mustard commented, "I have been a huge fan of Ender's Game since I was ten years old, so it is a true honor for our team to be entrusted with creating the first video game inspired by this classic story. Our goal is to create an authentic Ender’s Game experience that delivers awesome gameplay and can be enjoyed by both longtime fans and gamers new to the series."
