Swedish flash game developer Muskedunder Interactive has announced it has acquired independent game developer Free Lunch Design.

Free Lunch, founded in 1998 by Johan Peitz, is best known for Icy Tower, which it says has seen over 20 million downloads and over 100 weeks on the top ten at CNet's download.com. Along with the announcement, a new Free Lunch website was unveiled with the aim of making the developer's free games more accessible.

Muskedunder primarily develops advergames and serious games for clients including Doritos, Paramount Home Entertainment and Red Cross. Through the acquisition, Peitz becomes lead programmer and shareholder.

Muskedunder Interactive CEO Magnus Alm says his company will not be leaving the advergames space, but aims to expand its development profile.

Says Alm, "To the fans of Free Lunch Design, I would like to emphasize that we are committed to the brands built by Johan, and we will make sure they stay 100 percent free and coming at a steady pace."
