Middleware solution provider Allegorithmic has announced that WhiteMoon Dreams, the independent studio recently founded by former Medal of Honor and Fallout developers, has chosen its ProFX and MaPZonE procedural authoring tools to create assets for a forthcoming Xbox Live Arcade title.

ProFX 2.6 allows game developers to render high-quality procedural textures. Because its procedural texture files are small in size -- typically 500 to 1,000 times smaller -- Allegorithmic states that they are ideal for use in massively multiplayer online games, virtual communities, casual titles, and downloadable games.

MaPZone 2.6, ProFX’s authoring tool, is an advanced texturing tool dedicated specifically to creating professional, high-quality textures. It enables game studios to produce texture assets up to two times faster than with previous techniques. MaPZone aims to givs artists unprecedented control when creating textures for animation, game, visual effects, online media, design projects, and architectural visualization projects.

“MaPZone and ProFX are truly innovative and effective tools,” says WhiteMoon Dreams president and CEO. “Alone, MaPZone allows us to simplify the day-to-day task of creating and editing textures, and now with the addition of ProFX, our high-quality textures take up less storage space in our pipeline.
