The American division of Japan based developer Yuke's has announced its first Xbox Live Arcade title with Double D Dodgeball, a stylish futuristic multiplayer dodgeball title due for release this summer.
Yuke's says the game, expected to cost 800 Microsoft Points ($10) will feature four modes: exhibition, player match, ranked match and tournament for up to eight players. The game will also feature two different ball types, and two different rule sets.
The game's "West" Arena will have two teams playing in an arena separated with a center line, and players tagged as "out" are sent to sidelines behind the opposition's court, where they can return when a teammate knocks out an opponent.
In the game's "East" Arena, an additional outfield surrounds the court, with one player from each time starting in the opponent's outfield, where they can throw balls at the other team.
Said Yuke's product development manger Ken Koyama, “With Double D Dodgeball, we’ve been able to capture the spirit of classic playground dodgeball that we all grew up with, integrate a defined set of rules known in the East and West, and take it to Xbox Live. Instead of meeting up on the hot playground, you can go on Xbox Live Arcade and blast your friend with ball from the comfort of your couch.”
