Microsoft Reveals 60GB Xbox 360, Discontinues 20GB For $299

Ahead of its E3 press conference in Los Angeles, Xbox 360 creator Microsoft has confirmed a 60GB version of the Xbox 360 hardware at $349, with the 20GB version to be discontinued and sold off at $299.
According to an official press statement, the new Xbox 360 will be identical to the previous $349-retailing version, except with a 60gb hard drive replacing the 20gb version.
As the company explained, the upgraded hard drive is intended "...for storing the growing wealth of digital entertainment available for the console, including music, movies, television shows, and game content."
In addition, the company dropped the price of its 20GB Xbox 360 console in the U.S. and Canada to $299 "while supplies last", implying that, rather than continuing to manufacture a HD-specific SKU at that price, it will finish selling the smaller-hard drive version and then discontinue it.
The company's range of console offerings now includes the Xbox 360 Arcade bundle, with a 256MB memory unit and five Xbox Live Arcade games for $279, the 60GB version for $349, and the premium Xbox 360 Elite console - including an 120GB hard drive - for $449.
